An Olathe man is in custody after the Friday death of Laura K. Coltrane, 25, whom police said was the victim of a homicide.
Olathe police said Coltrane’s body was found in an apartment in Olathe Friday afternoon and that the 29-year-old man was arrested at the same time, the Kansas City Star reported Sunday. He is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder.
The man, whose name has not been released, posted recently on the Internet social networking site Facebook that he was “in a relationship” with Coltrane, according to the Star.
He had been charged in September with misdemeanor domestic battery against Coltrane while he lived with her, the newspaper reported. He was ordered to have no contact with Coltrane while she was living in an apartment in Mission. The man also was arrested in November for failing to appear in court. The failing-to-appear charge, as well as a separate domestic battery charge filed in 2003 for alleged actions against another woman, were dismissed.
Information on Coltrane’s life is provided in her obituary on page A2.
